Abstract

Physically deviant auditory stimuli occuring among frequent (standard) stimuli elicit themismatch negativity (MMN) of the auditory eventrelated potential (ERP). Mismatch negativity (MMN) is believed that provides a unique, objective measure of the central representation ofa sound.in this study, 11 normal healty volunteers (mean age 23,4±7,2 years) and 11 musicians (mean age 26,6±4, 7 years) were included. Auditory stimulus blocks were presented to ali subjects 80% of the stimuli in each block were standard of 1000 Hz and 20% were deviants of 900 Hz. MMN latency was significantly shorter in musicians than normal subjects and amplitude differences were insignifıcant.
