Abstract
Nerve conduction velocity of dorsal penile nerve has been calculated in flask penis and erect penis either by the way of papaverin injection ar elongation by hand. Therefore the effect of penis length to the dorsal penile nerve conduction velocity has been investigated. The study has been completed in 1O young and health volunteers. Firstly the NCV calculated in flask penis and then hand elongation and papaverin injection has applied respectively and the procedure has been repeated. The stimulat!on electrodes are placed on the distal part of darsa! surface of penis with 2 cm distance. The recording electrodes were put on the proximal part of dorsal penis. First of all the sensory threshold far dorsal penile nerve has been determined. The stimulus intensity described as 2 times sensory threshold. Stimulus duration was 2 miliseconds. Two hundreds responses were averaged. The latency is described as ta the peak of first negative wave. As a result, there is no difference of nerve action potential latencies between three methods. Therefore the length of penis does not change the latency of nerve action potential latency. As conclusion it is more convenient ta measure the dorsal penile nerve action potential latency than nerve conduction velocity in determining the dorsal penile nerve function.
