Abstract
Currently, there had been so many studies about frequency of hyperhomocysteinemiain cerebrovascular disease. This study confirms this observation. Plasma homocysteine concentration was significantly increased in stroke group than the healthy control group (Patient group: 19.29.4, Control group: 154, p=0.006). In patient group, plasma folate level, protein C and S levels were significantly lower than the control group but serumvitamin B 12 level was not found different from control group. Hyperhomocysteinemia was present in 20 of 96 patient with stroke (21 %). Homocysteine concentration correlated the values for blood folate and plasma creatinine level.
