Abstract
The ejfects of bigb-dose metbylprednisolone on tbe experimental spinal cord trauma wereinvestigated in this study. The trauma was performed with clip-compression method on the spinal cord of 40 male Wistar rats witb T8-T12 total laminectomy. Metbylprednisolone (30 mg/kg) was administered intravenously as a bolus injection to twenty rats at 1 hour after trauma, and tbis group received continously an infusion of metbylprednisolone (5.4 mg/kg)in normal safine far 23 bours. Remaining twenty rats untreated. The spinal cords of all rats were removed bistopatbological evaluation at the end of 24 hours. Metbylprednisolone treated rats showed significantly recovery than the untreated rats.
