Abstract

Our aim was to evaluate the effect of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) on clinical status and EEG abnormalities and its reliability in patients with epilepsy. We examined 110 patients with epilepsy. Clinical and electrophysiological examinations have been done just before and four weeks afrer TMS. No increase of seizure frequency was observed. Second EEG examination of 12 patients, who had normal initial EEG investigation, showed epileptic activity. Whereas, second EEG examination of 13patients, who had epileptic focus on initial EEG investigation, established as normal. The both EEG examinations were similar in 63.6% of the cases. We concluded that TMS had no negative effect on clinical status and EEG abnormalities in patients with epilepsy.
