Abstract

Background: Psychosis is a relatively rare, but serious complication of TBI. Psychotic syndromes occur more frequently in individuals who have had a TBI than in the general population. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) may include late onset psychiatric problems including the development of schizophrenia like psychosis. Objectives: We report a patient with psychotic features developed years after the TBI and compare it with the literature findings. Discussion: The neuropsychiatric symptoms of the reported case may be a late onset complication of TBI as a consequence of the basal ganglia damage.
