Abstract

Patients with chronic liver disease may suffer from neurological abnormalities secondary to hepatocerebral degeneration. Among these neurological abnormalities, the extrapyramidal symptoms are seen more often. Extrapyramidal involvement accompanied with hepatic encephalopathy has been reported rarely in the literature. The mechanism for these symptoms is the accumulation of substances such as manganese and ammonia in the basal ganglia. Here, because of its rarity, we report a patient with parkinsonian symptoms resulting from liver disease.
