Abstract
Multiple sclerosis is a chronic disease of central nervous system that is characterized by inflammation, demyelination and axonal injury. in recent years, many findings suggest a central role of the immune system in the pathogenesis of the disease. Although the etiology of multiple sclerosis is not stili fully known, over the past few years, marked progress has been made to understand the immune responses in the disease process. in this article, the recent progress in the immunopathogenesis of the disease is reviewed.
