Epileptogenesis is a term that describes some of alterations in central nervous systemthat leads to a tendency in developing seizures and epilepsy. Some of disorders like, prolonged seizure activity, hypoxia, ischemia and trauma, can result in neuronal death and/or reorganization. As a result of these disorders, epileptogenesis and epilepsy may occur. Neuroprotection is prevention, salvage, recovery or regeneration of neuronal injuryand loss. Thus , neuroprotective strategies have an important role in treatment of epilepsy and epileptogenesis
