Abstract
A recently developed technique, Diffusion Weighted lmaging (DWI), is steadilybecoming a routine part of the neuroimaging. The technique enables ta depict the stage of citotoxic edema, in which molecular diffusion of water is restricted. Besides to its high diagnostic ability, the method also can play an important role in selecting patients who may benefit from thrombolytic therapy. DWI is not only an accurate diagnostic tool inmanagement of cerebral ischemia, but also it can be helpful in diagnosis of many other neurological pathologies. This articles reviews the neurological disorders, in which DWI may become helpful as a diagnostic tool, with a handful of clinical examples.
